Welcome to Odin’s Rest

Yorkshire’s premier Wild Glamping experience, set in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With stunning views sweeping down the hillside and right over the Yorkshire Wolds, you’re sure to be mesmerised as soon as you arrive.

This truly is a beautiful, tranquil place from which to soak up a wonderful piece of Yorkshire, with 5 acres of mature thorn woodland, interspersed with grassland and clearings and a wealth of natural flora & fauna. Our Glamps have been purposefully sited within the grounds to each offer a unique and private setting. Our log powered hot tubs, steamy off-grid showers and in-tent stoves provide some added luxury to your wild stay too!

What’s in a name?

Legend has it that when the Vikings famously invaded the city of Eofowic, Ivar the Boneless and his Heathen Army had travelled south from Northumbria and set up camp in the northern hills of what became Jorvik (and latterly York). Since the area surrounding the city is largely flat and sparse, the last and best hiding place for the raiders would have been right about where you find us now… hence, Odin’s Rest!

Vikings of course were the original “Wild Glampers”, making sure they had a good amount of home comforts to hand while they pursued their varied interests. So, while you may prefer to pamper rather than pillage, or roam rather than raid we hope you will be just as comfortable in our little piece of wilderness as would have been these first renowned guests.

Odin’s Rest is ideally situated on the southern edge of the Howardian Hills AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), 6 minutes from Castle Howard & The Yorkshire Arboretum, 25 minutes from York City Centre and within easy reach of an abundance of historic, natural and cultural places to visit.
